As promised, here's the little bit of rearranging I did in my bedroom. Nothing big, just some shifting. The bed used to be in the left corner which left a huge open space on the right side of the room (picture here).
The last time I posted progress pics of my bedroom Andrea from Decorating Cents asked why my bed wasn't centered. At first I couldn't remember, and I thought, "Why isn't my bed centered?" I started poking around my room and I was reminded that the air vents are both right under the windows. That's why I hadn't bothered to try and center the bed, 'cause I thought that the bedside tables would block he vents.
Well, I got curious and pushed the bed and night stands to the center. Turns out the night stands fit without blocking the vents! (Thanks for the inspiration, Andrea!)
I love the new centered bed/sunburst focal point and that they're the first things you see when you enter the room. I also think it will be less expensive to fill two small-ish corners instead of one massive expanse that was almost the size of our living room.
The picture below is a quick break down of what I have left to do.
So I'm still looking at Craigslist everyday an making frequent visits to Home Goods and furniture discount places. I've got two big ticket items to buy and I'm hoping to find some good deals. I think it'll be a while before I come across anything at the right price, but when I do, I'll let you know!
The room is looking so fresh and bright. Great work so far!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love it!! The room looks so much more balanced now. Now the bed and mirror are focal points. Hmmm...looking at that mirror makes me want to get back on track with making one for the dining room.
ReplyDeleteThis room is looking absolutely gorgeous! I really want to make a starburst mirror like you did. I am tagging you!

Love the centered bed. I wasn't really a fan of the bed blocking some of the window. What are your favorite furniture discount places?
ReplyDeleteGwynne,
ReplyDeleteThere's a place on Glenwood called The Home Comfort Clearance Center. It's just a big warehouse that gets floor models from the many furniture stores in the area. Heavner's is the same kind of place and it's also on Glenwood.
Green Front Interiors on Capital is not a clearance place , but they have a room with floor models.
They're worth checking out. Sometimes there's absolutely nothing and sometimes there's a gem at a great price.
I really like this arrangement of this room! Great work!
ReplyDeletebtw, I tagged you in a fun little blogger game! :0) http://thenetznest.blogspot.com/2012/01/ive-been-tagged-fun-little-game.html
The room looks great, love your mirror! And I would SO have ordered that chair thinking it was white. So annoying when the pic doesn't match...don't they know we just look at the pictures?! ;)
